Addis Ababa January 27, 2022/ENA/ Government Communication Minister Dr. Legesse Tulu has urged hotels in Addis Ababa to show maximum hospitality to guests of the 35th Summit African Union (AU).
The Ethiopian government is leading the necessary preparations to successfully host the 35th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa with a true spirit of hospitality.
The preparations are also aimed at further strengthening African unity and building Ethiopia’s image.
Accordingly, various relevant institutions have made preparations in their respective sectors, including accommodation and other related services.
The government’s communications minister, Dr Legesse Tulu, told the media today that although some parties have been lobbying to change venues from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s diplomatic efforts have borne fruit and the summit will be held in the African capital, Addis Ababa.
He noted that the decision taken by the leaders of AU member countries to hold the 35 Summit in Addis Ababa is a diplomatic victory for Ethiopia.
African leaders should be appreciated for the decision they took in fending off several international pressures, the minister said.
“The Summit will help the nation tell the world that Ethiopia has continued to survive by resolving its challenges in supporting national unity and securing peace,” he said.
He called on the people of Addis Ababa and its surrounding areas to show the usual warm hospitality with a view to ensuring that “our African guests feel maximum comfort and security during their stay with the aim of create a lasting positive impression about Ethiopia”.
The 40th ordinary session of the executive council will be held on February 2 and 3. The ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will also be held from February 5 to 6.
The AU Summit will be convened under the theme “Building Nutrition Resilience on the African Continent: Accelerating Human Capital, Social and Economic Development.
