Black customer sues Raising Cane restaurants for racial discrimination in California

CORONA, Calif., March 16, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — A black customer at Corona, California, has filed a civil rights lawsuit alleging employees at a recently opened Raising Cane’s restaurant laughed at him for being “black” and ordering extra crispy chicken. According to Darius Bell, a young African-American man, employees at Raising Cane’s openly discussed his “color” and mocked his order. When Bell asked to see their manager, the employees ignored him and took off their badges, according to Bell. Raising Cane’s is a national fast food restaurant chain with over 500 locations specializing in chicken fingers. “I hate to see things like this continue to happen in our community,” Bell said. “That’s why we’re not going to let this one blow over our heads.” According to Bell’s attorney, Arthur Kim“We should all remember what Dr King said, that we should live in a nation where we are judged by the content of our character, not the color of our skin. We demand that Raising Cane take action to ensure that all of her clients are treated as one family.” Bell is represented by Arthur Kim of the Arthur Kim law firm in beverly hills and Palm Springs, California.
