Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club of Savannah African Culture Youth Event

Color masks and foreign flags are displayed at the Savannah Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club after a new organization called the Art of Health and Wellness held a workshop for children to learn about the culture and African art. The organization held a three-day workshop called the African Mask Project. During the workshop, the children discovered the African origin and the history of art. The children were able to create the masks from their point of view with the help of a local artist, Mila Lazarevic. Lazarevic said: “It is necessary, it is the goal of this whole project. To enrich oneself culturally is the crucial and primordial thing in how humans can and must do to gain understanding and empathy. The organization hopes to continue teaching children in the community about different cultural enrichments around the world. There will be more quarterly workshops at the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club.
