Nando’s will open the first Texas restaurants in Houston and Katy

An international restaurant brand known for its spicy chili grilled chicken is coming to the Houston area with two locations slated for spring 2023 openings.

Nando’s Peri-Peri, a South African restaurant, has announced that it will open its flagship Texas location at 1751 Post Oak in the spring of 2023. The 3,200 square foot space at Levcor’s Post Oak Plaza will be designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture with colors and textures that reflect its African origins as well as original South African contemporary art. This opening will be followed by another LaCenterra location at the Cinco Ranch in Katy.

The menu’s signature is the flame-grilled chicken that has been marinated for 24 hours in a sauce made with peri-peri (bird’s eye chili) peppers, sourced from 1,400 farmers in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Africa. South. Peri-peri chicken options include chicken thighs, thighs, bone-in and boneless breasts, thigh skewers, wings, and chicken livers. There are also chicken wraps and sandwiches, chicken platters, bowls and salads.

“Our authentic flavors were born in South Africa but designed for Houston,” said John Fisher, CEO of Nando’s Peri-Peri USA. “We look forward to welcoming newcomers and Nando devotees who have long lobbied for us to come to Texas and this growing city known for its incredible diversity and culinary scene.”

Founded 35 years ago in Johannesburg, Nando’s has restaurants in nearly 30 countries around the world; the brand opened its first location in the United States in 2008 and now has nearly 50 locations in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and Illinois.

The new locations in Houston and Katy will be Nando’s first as part of a planned expansion throughout Texas.
