One of the most Instagrammed restaurants in the world has had a facelift

Sketch in London is one of the most Instagrammable restaurants in the world, and it has undergone a major renovation.

The iconic property, which from the outside appears to be a standard townhouse similar to thousands of others lining the chic streets of Mayfair, is a dreamworld of pastel hues inside.

Known for its baby pink look and style, the owners decided to renovate this very popular restaurant before spring.

After a major makeover, the 18th century building has been given a huge gallery in yellow tones.

Where previously diners could expect to be seated in pink velvet chairs and banquettes, lit by rose gold-tinted lamps and surrounded by matching walls and carefully selected artwork, the ambience is completely different now.

Instead, the walls are covered in darker amber-colored artwork and painted in a mix of terracotta orange and black mustard.

While the floor remains the same – zig-zag tiles in a range of contrasting shades, the seating range has been redesigned in sunny yellows, with smooth embroidered fabrics for a more refreshing vibe than plush velvet.

Some Sketch enthusiasts aren’t sold on the makeover, as the old pastel pink hue transported many to a wonderland-style dream world.

Sketch and owner Mourad Mazouz have announced they are planning a makeover in 2021, but have remained tight-lipped about their exact plans for the popular dining destination.

Sharing the news on their Instagram page, the restaurant’s social media team captioned a selection of snaps: “A new era dawns with the warm glow of sunshine yellow…

“The sketch gallery is transformed.”

Sketch’s walls are now covered in African-themed artwork and mask portraits

“In @indiamahdavi’s coppery paradise where texture transcends color, the richly dyed fabrics and hand-carved wooden masks of @shonibarestudio greet and gaze upon all who enter…” the description continues.

They later shared an incredible reel showing the seamless transition from millennial chic to bold and dramatic African styles, even revealing that the wooden dormer beams and joists had also been painted to match the new decor.

Hungry London influencers will be lining up in droves to get a glimpse of the iconic restaurant’s new look, as fans have already started sharing their excitement in the comments.

The pink-hued former gallery has attracted influencers and celebrities from around the world to take photos and enjoy afternoon tea at the Mayfair restaurant

“Wow,” one person wrote, followed by, “I’ve always loved pink but I think you beat it with this! So elevated and elegant. Thumbs up.”

Others were disappointed that the “magical” and “fairytale” vibes of the pink gallery were gone.

Celebrities, photographers and social media icons have made the trip to the cotton candy destination since it opened in 2014.

The owners decided to bring back French-Iranian architect India Mahdavi for the redesign, which is also known for its famous Parisian bakeries and quirky hotels.

Gone are the famous works of David Shrigley in favor of portraits of African masks, and the famous bar has been revamped in bronze.

An array of diamond-patterned bar stools line up in front of the counter, and there are still plenty of opportunities for selfies as the weather warms.

Sketch originally planned to only keep its pink look for two years, so make the most of the fluffy yellow for as long as possible.
