ANTANANARIVO, (CAJ News) THE Radisson Hotel Group made its debut in Madagascar with the opening of three hotels.

These are Radisson Blu Hotel, Radisson Hotel Antananarivo Waterfront and Radisson Serviced Apartments Antananarivo City Centre.

Antananarivo is the capital, also known as “Analamanga” or the “City of Thousands”.

This is in reference to the thousand soldiers appointed in the 17th century by the king, to protect the palace known locally as “Rova”, on the city’s highest hill.

“We are thrilled to open our first three hotels in Madagascar, showcasing two of our fastest growing brands and a diverse offering ranging from hotel to serviced apartments,” said Tim Cordon, Senior Area Vice President, Middle East & Africa at Radisson Hotel Group.

“We are proud to expand our presence across the Indian Ocean with a collection of hotels that we believe will have a positive impact on the Malagasy economy and, together with the wonderful team at the Madagascar Tourism Board, we plan to attract more travelers to this beloved island.”

The Radisson Blu Hotel has 168 rooms.

The Radisson Hotel Antananarivo Waterfront is a boutique hotel with 30 rooms.

The Radisson Serviced Apartments Antananarivo City Center has 56 studios and apartments.

“We have no doubt that our hotels will be a priority for memorable stays, culinary experiences as well as meetings and events of all kinds,” said François van Rens, General Manager of the three hotel cluster.

Area attractions include Tsarasaotra Park and Lemur Park.

They are home to remarkable flora and fauna, including Madagascar’s most beloved animal, the lemur.

There is also Haute-Ville, a perched village famous for the architecture of its two-storey brick houses, dating from the 19th century.

The Rova of Antananarivo and the Palace of Andafiavaratra are also in the city, as well as the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, the only United Nations cultural site in Madagascar.

The Radisson Hotel meanwhile sent its best wishes and condolences to all those affected by Cyclones Batsirai and Ana in the country.
