A unique source of children’s books, toys and accessories, the brand features various characters that encourage interest in science, technology and African history.
LOS ANGELES, 28 October 2021 / PRNewswire-PRWeb / – Teni and Tayo creations Unveil a new coloring book, puzzle and build your own solar powered car from its diverse collection, all with a dash of African influence. Mascots Feyi fay, a superhero fairy, and Captain Nosa, a Nigerian scientist and superhero, encourage children to do well in school and promote the love of learning in all of the brand’s offerings.
School-aged children engage in science, technology, engineering, and math with hands-on activities, such as building the solar-powered car. They learn to problem solve and pay attention to detail throughout the construction process, and watch solar and electric power at work. The coloring book and puzzle for the youngest introduces them to African queens and facts about Timbuktu.
Omobola Imoisili founded the brand after moving to LA from Nigeria and wanting to give her little girls something representative of their heritage while they are in school.
“I was born and grew up in Nigeria and I have always been surrounded by people who looked like me, but now I am raising two young girls in California, and we are a minority, ”said Imoisili. “After the birth of my daughters, it didn’t take long for me to notice the lack of representation in everyday things for children and the lack of awareness of African culture and history. For example, most people only think of poverty and war when they think of Africa, but I wanted my daughters to be proud of their heritage and know that there is more to Africa only that. It was then that I decided to start something on my own. I hope that the products I create appeal to children of all ethnic groups, while allowing black and African children to feel more empowered and proud to be who they are. “
A one-stop-shop for toys, books, lessons and more, celebrating vibrant African culture and history, kids also enjoy something as simple as an African proverb in a toy box or a lesson on African geography in an activity book. STEM brand projects are aimed at children eight years and older.
