The Nutmeg State is well known for being small. We may not have the massive landscape that the big states ownbut in some ways it’s a good thing. For example, when planning a road trip to Connecticut, you can see a lot more of the state than you could in a bigger place like Texas or California.. At Only In Connecticut, we love good themed road trips. And what could be tastier than a trip centered around food? We would like to circumnavigate the globe and travel internationallybut if you don’t have the time or money to do it, you can do the next best thing right here at home. Check out this quick Connecticut road trip that will take you to many of our top ethnic restaurants.. They might not look like much, but they’ll make you feel like you’re traveling the world without ever leaving the state!
In these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list at a later date.
People’s Choice, 77 Wall Street, Norwalk, CT 06850, USA

Your first stop will be People’s Choice. They serve Jamaican dishes in a simple, no-frills atmosphere.

You can get all sorts of unique offerings here: goat’s head soup, ackee and saltfish, and savory porridge. They even have breakfast items. They don’t have a website so stop by and check out their menu.
Pho Hong Thom, 48 Wood Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06605, USA

Your next stop on this tasty road trip will be Pho Hong Thom. This little Vietnamese joint doesn’t look like much, but their pho is amazing and you won’t be disappointed with anything on the menu.

El Gallo Dorado #2 Restaurant, 115 Main St, Monroe, CT 06468, USA

Impossible to do an ethnic restaurant road trip in Connecticut without Mexican! El Gallo Dorado #2 is an authentic place that may be located in a small town in Connecticut, but it tastes like crossing the Mexican border.

Polonia Taste LLC, 99 Broad St, New Britain, CT 06053, USA

Then we head to Poland and try Polonia Taste LLC in New Britain. They serve cafeteria style food.

The food is buffet style so you don’t have as many options as you would from a place with a large menu, but everything is delicious and the prices are great. They don’t have a website, but stop by and enjoy!
PABS AFRICAN RESTAURANT, 1166 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108, USA

Connecticut’s African restaurants aren’t as popular as some of the other regional dishes on this list. After all, you see Italian and Mexican restaurants quite often.

But African cuisine is just as tasty! Pabs focuses on West African cuisine, with dishes from various nations. This is a good opportunity to try foods you don’t normally eat.
Paul’s Pasta Shop, 223 Thames St, Groton, CT 06340, USA

Excellent Italian restaurants abound in Connecticut. The one we think is a little underrated is the tiny Paul’s Pasta Shop in Groton.
