Vancouver has the greenest hotels in Canada and one place to stay has 250,000 bees

Vancouver has been ranked among the best in the world for its sustainable hotels, according to a new global report.

The research, conducted by energy experts Uswitch, analyzed thousands of hotels on Booking.com in 200 cities around the world that have been deemed “sustainable” by the booking site.

Each city then received a percentage based on the number of sustainable hotels out of the total number of proposed hotels in the city.

Vancouver tops the list with nearly 44% of its hotels rated as sustainable, just edging out Stockholm, Sweden in second place.

Canadian cities were high on the list, with Toronto in third place, Calgary in fourth and Edmonton in fifth.

The rest of the global top 10 are Lahore, Pakistan, in sixth place, two Colombian cities – Medellin and Bogota – taking seventh and eighth spots respectively, then two South African cities – Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg.

In terms of actual volume of sustainable hotels, Vancouver has 39 hotels rated as environmentally friendly on Booking.com. In Canada, for comparison, Toronto has 37, Calgary has 32 and Edmonton has 30.

According to the report, a “notable” place to stay in Vancouver for sustainability is the five-star Fairmont Waterfront, whose guests include 250,000 bees, as well as their other sustainable features such as recycling and composting and offering all planners carbon events. – neutral alternatives.

Vancouver is well known for its stunning scenery, offering views of the surrounding beaches and mountains – in fact, some of the city’s dreamiest hotels have made it into a list of the top 15 hotels in Canada.
